Silver Oaks International School

She is someone who believes that young learners should grow with values and respect for their family, friends and society for a progressive world and that, Education is the only solution that can progress a child, society, country and the world.

With an experience of 10 years in teaching students of Pre-primary and Primary in CBSE schools in India and the Middle East, she joined Silver Oaks School in 2005. She has picked up diverse roles in the school as a Spoken English teacher, Pre-primary in- charge, PYP Homeroom teacher, PYP Coordinator and now as the Head of Primary Years Programme.

Few of her initiatives in the School include – making teaching and learning of English language effective in PYP grades; thinking visible in students; empowering teachers in virtual collaboration and so on.

She also believes in constant learning and “Learn, she did! The IB Primary Years Programme.” It may be only 10 years of PYP practice but the depths she has gone to and the competencies she has developed by “Making the PYP happen” in all grades from PP1 to VI helped her to become an IB Workshop Leader and a School Visit Team Member.

She has been trained in “Concept based Learning”, “Sustainability as International Mindedness”, “Teaching and Learning”, “Inquiry”, “The Learning Environment and the Inquiry”, “Reading and Writing in PYP”, Teachers as “Researchers” by the IBO in India and abroad and a course on “Teaching for Understanding” from Harvard University. These have given her a deep insight into the programme framework and upskilled her abilities to train teachers and develop the Curriculum in the school. She has attended IB Conferences in Singapore and participated in SAIBSA meets and Job alike sessions.

She has conducted about 50 training programs within the school in areas of pedagogy, curriculum, spoken language, and as an IB workshop leader has led a dozen workshops in other IB world schools in India and abroad. Her visits to different IB schools as an evaluator give her diverse perspectives of the IB programme which she further extends into the school.

Apart from these her love to read articles, learn from experiences of other educators and participate in discussion forums make her an effective and successful professional.
